The Downs remains fully independent
The school will continue to have its own leadership, ethos and day-to-day running. Pembroke Education has been created to support schools like ours, not to change what makes them distinctive.
The Downs Preparatory School is proud to announce that it has co-founded a new schools group, Pembroke Education, alongside Clifton High School.
Pembroke Education has been created to strengthen both schools while protecting the independence and distinctive character that define them. Each school will remain fully independent, with its own leadership, ethos and community at its heart. By working together where it adds value, the group will provide greater stability, shared expertise and new opportunities for pupils, staff and families.
Both schools share a similar outlook on education: one where ambition is guided by care and where children are encouraged to develop their individual strengths. The formation of Pembroke Education allows us to build on this shared philosophy while continuing to develop the distinctive strengths of each school.
Early opportunities for collaboration are already being explored, including expanded sports provision on site at The Downs and joint pupil events. At the same time, The Downs remains fully committed to its broad preparatory model and to supporting pupils as they move on to a wide range of senior schools.
